What It’s Like

CCNS Day Camp is a relaxed, unstructured program designed for preschoolers between the ages of two and four. Camp is in session for 6 weeks during the summer, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Sign up is for two, three, four, or five days per week with a two week minimum.
Children are placed in groups according to their age and are assigned to a counselor. Staff members are knowledgeable in life saving, CPR Tot-Saver and first aid techniques. Every day, weather permitting, children will spend time outside in our large, shady, well-equipped yard. Water activities will be offered, as well as stories, games, arts and crafts, singing and time for free play. Some activities will be held indoors as well. Although rain may keep the camp inside all day, it does not dampen the fun.
Camp begins each day in the classrooms. Children have an easier time separating from their parents in a more structured environment. During the first hour the children are free to play with anything set out for them and to do the art project. At 10:00, the project and any toys used are cleaned up. The children have a little snack, are helped into their bathing suits by counselors, if necessary, and then go outside to play and swim and participate in special activities (usually coordinating with the weekly theme). Clean up is at 11:30; the children wash their hands, go inside to change, and have lunch together.

Summer camp is a great way for children to become used to going to school, in an unstructured, relaxed environment, and provides an excellent transition to the classroom experience in the fall.
Enrollment is limited to 30 children per day with a staff of four adults. Camp is not in session on July 4th. To apply to our Summer Camp program, please call the school directly for an application.
